In addition to being Co-Founder/Publisher for PaymentFacilitator.com, Deana Rich is a leading expert within the payments acquiring industry and is highly respected for her unparalleled risk management, underwriting, operations and compliance experience. She is an original board member, past President and currently Vice President of the Merchant Acquirers Committee (MAC) where she is instrumental in driving organizational focus. She also is recognized as an industry leader that is influential in shaping industry guidance on matters of risk and fraud management through her roles and work with the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA). She is among the select few who are approved to perform Acquirer Risk Program (ARP) reviews, Global Acquirer Risk Standards (GARS) reviews and Global Brand Protection Program (GBPP) reviews for Visa, and Fraud Management Program (FMP) reviews for MasterCard.
She established Deana Rich Consulting, Inc. in 2004. As its President, she is known for her compelling insight, deep card brand knowledge, industry relationships and more than 20 years of acquiring experience. Throughout her career, Deana has successfully developed and implemented risk management and underwriting programs for acquirers, ISOs, merchant aggregators and software as a service (SaaS) developers, including writing policies and procedures, providing staff training support and overseeing implementation of risk monitoring, underwriting and card scheme compliance. Deana is frequently engaged to review established risk and operational departments and policies for vulnerabilities and improvement. She also provides litigation support and expert witness testimony regarding risk and fraud-related matters within the acquiring industry.
In addition to managing her own consulting practice, Deana frequently teams with Double Diamond Group to offer a full suite of payments aggregation services to acquirers, ISOs, SaaS developers and mobile and online payments providers.
Prior to establishing Rich Consulting, Deana gained hands-on operational background working as Director of Merchant Relations for Jettis, Inc, Vice President of Operations at iPayment Technologies, Senior Vice President for Beverly Hills Bancard – an issuer of sub prime cards, and Vice President at both First Charter Bank and Bank of Los Angeles. While managing her own firm, she also worked for seven years as a Senior Associate with The Strawhecker Group.
Deana’s leadership is exemplified by her service to the industry as Vice President of MAC and her active involvement with ETA where she was honored as ETA Member of the Year in 2013 and Volunteer of the Year in 2011. Most recently, she was engaged by ETA to lead a monumental effort that included input from 40 industry companies and more than 50 representatives to develop the ETA Guidelines on Merchant and ISO Underwriting and Risk Monitoring. She is Chair of the ETA Fraud and Risk Committee, and serves on the Government Relations and Mobile Payments Committees. She also was a member of ETA’s President’s Advisory Council for more than a year. Deana holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
